This site has been developed by the Milan Area Concerned Citizens to follow the proposed development of what is deemed to be one of the nation's largest New Vehicle Redistribution Centers for Truck and Rail. The project has been proposed by AAR Properties, L.LC., a wholly owned entity of the Ann Arbor Railroad who are working with Transdevelopmental Corporation to develop this project for use by one customer, General Motors. What is the Purpose of this Site?
What is our Goal? For our community to diligently weigh the pros and cons of the proposed
rail yard project for the future development of area business and neighborhood
communities. It is our opinion that this is not a good project for the future
development of an area that has bright prospects for new development as evidenced by the
new Cabela's SuperStore which opened Issues of concern:
Who are the "Milan Area Concerned Citizens"? We are just that. Residents and business people from the area surrounding Milan Township (Michigan, USA). We oppose this project and are concerned how this development will impact nearby residential communities and the future development of quality business sites in the area. To contact the Milan Area Concerned Citizens, you can call, e-mail or use regular mail, click here for contact information. Opening Statement We believe that the Ann Arbor Railroad has good intentions of developing this site with relatively low negative impacts for nearby residents. However, we have concerns that even though efforts are made to reduce the impacts of this project, it is not possible to reduce pollutants or control environmental factors so as not to significantly compromise the living environment of residents within a few miles of the site. We believe that the proposed project will negatively affect the "health, safety and public welfare" of the majority of area residents. We express our concerns to the Milan Township Board and the Milan Township Planning Commission to carefully and prudently review this project, as it will permanently affect the future development of surrounding Milan and Dundee area businesses and residential communities.
