To the Editor,

After writing many letters to the editor, I decided a few weeks ago to remain silent and let others voice their opinions. But unfortunately an incident has happened
that has forced me to break my silence.

Wells road has been closed for several weeks now because of a bridge north
of Cone road that has disintegrated. Whereas that bridge was built about the turn of the
century and has held up remarkably well for it's age, the fact that many semis have sped over it the last two summers, when US23 was closed at times, has hastened it's demise. I think the state should pay for it's replacement and not London Township

After November's London Township Board meeting, I remarked to our supervisor, Chris
Neuvirth, that if the Ann Arbor Railroad followed their latest "good neighbor" policy, I
expected them to contact the township about helping us to replace that
bridge.

At December's London Township meeting, I asked the Board if the AARR had
contacted them in any way about anything and was told they had been indeed contacted about the bridge. I was not informed as to the particulars or if the deal was sealed, but since this is the season for giving, I'm pretty sure the AARR is getting ready to give santa a little help.

Yes, the bridge needs replacing for convenience and safety reasons but many
of us London Township residents say NO to their "bribe" money.

The AARR touts the fact that they have been in our community for 100 years.
Where have they been when several bridges in Milan Township have remained closed
because of lack of repair funds? If the AARR really wanted to be a good neighbor,
they could offer to replace ALL the broken bridges and not just the one that would suit
their needs.

Could they possibly be trying to "butter up" the London Township nearby neighbors?
